Spiritual Formation for All Ages

Spiritual Formation Classes for All

Spring Classes April 7 – May 19,

The Voice of Scripture.
Taught by Jodie Muller and Steve Pouliot.  No Cost.
The historical Bible was largely spread by the spoken word and meant to be expressive and move its audience to believe its message. Therefore, the intent of this class is to investigate Scripture more deeply by reading Scripture aloud and connecting ourselves and others emotionally to the message within. We will do this through both technical and experiential exploration of Scripture.

“Learning Humility: A Year of Searching for a Vanishing Virtue,” by Richard J. Foster.
Taught by Deb Rillos & Margaret Thompson-Gough.
Books cost $21.00 if ordered through the church.
Jesus is the touchstone for an understanding of humility.
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29)
Richard Foster maintains that humility is the foundational virtue in our journey toward character formation and spiritual transformation. Using the Lakota calendar as a framework, Foster shares wisdom from the ages through Scripture, the devotional masters, and Native American oral tradition. He reveals a comprehensive vision for human life that is devoid of pride and leads us into an interior humility of heart. We will be reading and practicing, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide each of us as we open our heart to humility and the process of becoming more like Christ.

Trusting God.
Taught by Nancy & Gordy Kuenn. $4.00 fee for materials.
What does it mean that God is trustworthy? Do you struggle with trusting God in certain areas of your life? Who is God? How does His character give us reason to trust Him? How does God see us when He looks at us through the eyes of His heart? How can following the Holy Spirit’s leading add more joy and fulfillment to our lives? In this class, we will be exploring these questions through various readings, discussions, and videos.
